My family and I visited The Swan a couple of Sundays ago on recommendation from a friend. We were made to feel very welcome and the children were catered for well which is hard to find in alot of good food pubs these days. The Sunday lunch was very good value and delicious, children meals were half price. Finally we have found somewhere locally that does a good sunday lunch through out the afternoon.

There is a good selection of dishes, and the food was good, and well cooked.My only criticism relates to the sweets. There were only 2 hot sweets listed on the menu when I visited, and one of these was not available. Also, it would be good if custard could be available in future to accompany the hot sweets. It is nice to see a menu which consists largely of traditional British items, rather than exotic foreign dishes!

As a non-local my experience of the swan has been nothing but positive. A very warm welcome is always recieved (possibly because I do not stomp in, scowl at the staff when they are clearly busy and expect to be treated like the queen, a little courtesy goes a long way etc), the food has been fantastic, the chef makes himself known and will talk to anyone face to face if they have a problem with the food. It is a lovely 'proper' English pub which has managed to maintain a huge amount of history in the public bar, which you don't see much these days. As the landlord said...why did you not tell him of your experiences?
